Marcasse (pit no. 7). Photograph A.I.v.G.-Marcasse was one of the most dangerous mines in the whole of the Borinage.
There were many disasters there: explosions, fire and flood.
Vincent went to the bottom of this mine, 2,300 feet down, and stayed there six hours.
